Region Championships

The Region Carnival is scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday, 9 and 10 February 2019, at the Sydney Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen.

Athletes Under 8 and older who place 1st to 6th incl. in finals at the Zone Carnival in December will automatically qualify for the Region Carnival.

Qualifiers

A full list of athletes that have qualified for the Region Carnival will be posted closer to the carnival date. Any listed athlete that is not able to attend, please email champs@plac.org.au and advise the events you are unable to compete in.

Program

The program of events will be posted closer to the carnival date.

Uniform

Everyone competing at the Regional Carnival must be wearing the correct uniform. Any athlete who is not wearing the correct uniform will not be allowed to compete.

Parent Helpers

We will be allocated certain event duties which we will need to provide Parent Helpers.  An online “Sign Up Genius” roster will be set up so please put yourself down to fulfil our duties.  There will be plenty of time slots so you can volunteer and not miss your child’s event.

If you have a child participating at Region you are expected to undertake at least one duty each day your child participates.  This will also apply for the State Carnival.

For those parents that are volunteering for the field roster please make sure of the following:

  • Take a drink with you;
  • Wear a hat and sunscreen;
  • Make sure you have closed in shoes, no thongs or sandals etc.

All parent helpers will be required to wear PLAC Parent Helper Lanyards to gain access onto the field which you can collect from the Parramatta tent.  You will also be required to sign on at the event area assigned, and if you do not report in time our Centre will be called over the p.a. to supply an alternate helper.

Wet Weather

As the track at Narrabeen is an all-weather track, the carnival will be ON, regardless of the weather.
